February Challenge at Scrapbookers-Anonymous

Hi, everyone! I am a little behind these days. Just super busy with working full-time and the routine of the daily life. Today, I am just sharing the layout I created for the February challenge at Scrapbookers-Anonymous.

Challenge
Create a scrapbook layout with at least three (3) hearts and stitches:

This is about the three mens in my life. Well, my dad is missing, here.
I took the photo during checkout from a hotel in New York city on January 2009.

I used a past kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. This layout shows a combination of American Crafts Amy Tan collection and Jillibean Soup. I used yellow knitting thread and my WRMK Sew easy too. The sketch is from Page Maps CHAW12 sketch Contest.

A random winner will be picked at the end of the month for a chance to win a paper pack from MME.and goodies. You have until 9PM EST on February 29 to enter your project.

50 Things I will like to try... Check-in

Sneak Peek of 2011 February Main Kit from 3Scrappy Boys Kit club.

On January 4, 2010 I wrote a list of 50 things I would like to try on 2010 or in the near future. Some were things I planned to do anyway and others were dreams or wishes. This should have been done one year ago. Now, I am completing this, better now or never. (Check in done in January 29, 2012). I love to work outside home, but one of my regrets it is the limited time, I have for myself. Sometimes, I feel that I want to live on a slower pace, but at the same time I need to keep up the pace for my family. This sunday evening, I took a time for myself. This is the rationale for writing this post.

I want to add that, this is mostly for me, to have in my records. If you are not interested in reading it, it is OK. If you are curious, then go ahead.

Here they are:

Family trip to Walt Disney World. (done Summer, 2010)
Read War and Peace from Leo Tolstoy - done (2010)
Visit Austria - not in the plans
Visit Museum of Puerto Rico - done (there are several layouts about this day).
Complete Ali Ewards Yesterday & Today Class - (not started)
Complete Lisa Day The Challenge of Me Album - (not started)
Get a COPIC certification - (not started, not in the plans and not sure if I am interested)
Complete New York Marathon - (it is still a strong dream)
Lose 25 pounds and maintain the weight - (I really want to lose at least 10 lbs. Honestly, I feel comfortable with my weight right now, even I will love to be more lean).
Write at least one new post weekly to this blog - (need to take the time for this, now that I am working full time, it is getting more difficult just to blog, I need to wait just 2 or 3 months when I will return as a SAHM)
Start a small business - (not sure, if I am interested.)
Get a Master of Business Administration degree (not interested since I am not interested to create a business, however I want a MS in Statistics. I really want to continue doing projects on an occasional basis at pharmaceutical companies, as I am doing right now.)
Learn to sew - ( I want to learn, but not this year.)
Visit Saint Petersburg (not now.)
Enjoy a weekend trip to New York with my DH and best friends. (This will be a great 40years birthday...)
Learn ADOBE photoshop - (I am planning to do this after june this year).
Learn photography - (same, in the plans)
Do a professional photography session at the beach of my family (I forgot about this, maybe in the summer).
Get an abdominoplasty (still interested)
Take writing courses (not interested)
Renew my wardrobe (now that I am working, I am budgeting for this)
Complete Nic Howard Point of View class (not started)
Write a love letter to my husband (yey!!!!, now I know what I will do for Saint Valentine's day)
Enjoy a weekend by myself - (someday)
Enjoy a weekend with my husband (no kids) - NYC trip????

Organize the garage - (I did this, but it always pick up what we do not know where to keep)

This was a great exercise, especially that after two years many of my interests changed.I am pretty sure than more than 50% of the list changes already. Definitely, this is something I want to do again.

But this is for another post.

ABC Challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous

Hi, everyone! I am back! I am fine. I just took a little break from scrapbooking and blogging. Okay, I really been busy in my 2012 projects for the home, fitness, organizing, decluttering, reading, money (budget)... Still working on my PLAN. I have a long list of to do items that I am just working on crossing off them. I am working with my other life's areas first before taking scrapbooking at full swing. More of this theme on later posts.

We are up to letter F at Scrapbookers-Anonymous challenge blog. You can create and upload your projects including manufacturers like Fancy Pants, Fiskars and or embellishments starting with the letter F such as... flowers, felt, and/or themes like friends, frogs, fun, family...

Here is my take. Actually, this is my first layout of the year after more than 3 weeks scrapping hiatus. I used the past winter collection from Fancy Pants. It is Hot Chocolate. And you know what. I love this collection as it was really new.

I added some flowers from Making Memories and Purple Pumpkin. The photo is from our weekend trip to Lucerne on 2003 (the winter when we lived in Italy and before having kids). The city is beautiful but it was really cold. I just wanted to drink hot chocolate and stay inside. I used a sketch #189 from Creative Scrappers.

E is for... at Scrapbookers-Anonymous

E is for Echo Park at the ABC Challenge at Scrapbookers-Anonymous's challenge blog.

I could not avoid it! I had to use more of the fabulous collection from Echo Park, Holly Jolly! This collection is included in December 2011 Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. I added some American Crafts alphabet thickers from the Amy's Tan line. I used several circle punches to embellish my christmas tree. The photo shows my boy during the christmas morning of 2007.

What E do you have in your stash? We love people that combine challenges! So if you are using some Echo Park or EK Success, or zoo layouts with elephant's pictures, etc. Do you get the idea? Come and play along with us!!!

This month, the challenge is closing a little early, so Theresa and Lea can enjoy the holiday weekend and celebrate the new year. You have until December 29th at 9pm EST to upload your layout!

Hi everyone! Today, I will share some christmas scrapbook layouts created during the last three weeks.

The first layout was created for Scrapbookers Anonymous, December challenge. This month, you need to create a holiday themed project using a Tag and some glitter.

I used the fabulous December 2011 Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. I added the Avery tag and the white glitter that was applied to the wood snowflakes pieces. The papers are from Lily bee designs. The christmas of 2009 was very special since my aunt came from Orlando, FL to celebrate the holidays with us. Please, visit Scrapbookers Anonymous and see what the DT created. You have until the end of the month to play.

Next are two additional layouts created with the December 2011 Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys.

The christmas countdown using Echo Park Holly Jolly. My kid at school during the christmas of 2009.

The best christmas gift ever using the Pink Paislee collection. Our tree during the christmas of 2006.

All the supplies are from the kit, except the white paint and glitter applied to the chipboard elements. I enjoyed browsing thru my photos from last christmases.

I have two more layouts made with the trio kit, but I cannot share them yet! One is for the 3 Scrappy Boys newsletter, the second one is for the ABC challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous. Can you guess? Are you following the letter sequence? Yes, it is Echo Park Holly Jolly!

D is for...at Scrapbookers-Anonymous

For the month of November at Scrapbookers-Anonymous, we created scrapbook layouts with items, things, etc. starting with letter D. I used a long time fave manufacturer of mine... Doodlebug Design. The relatively new Surprise Party collection just came very handy for the celebration of Diego's 4th year birthday. Even more, the focus photo shows Diego's with Dad. How perfect for the challenge!!

So if you have in your stash: Daisy Bucket, Daisy D, Doodlebug, DCWV, or

dogs, Dad's photos, doilies, dragons, dolls, dinner, your favorite drink, diamonds, daisies, diaries, die cuts, doodling, dance, Detroit, donuts, doctor, dessert, your desk, visit to the dentist, dominoes, dove, dots, plenty of dots, dock, duck, drum, door, dinosaur, deer (so perfect for a christmas layout), dumplings (chinese dinner layout)..., definitions.... disco music, and so on...

With respect to my layout, the banner and the balloons were fussy cut from one of the Doddlebug patterned papers. I love papers which patterns are easy to cut out. In addition, I cut through the score section from one Doodlebug card and used one of the pieces to mat my photo. Even the red button and the red alphabet stickers are from Doodlebug.

Please be sure to have your project with letter D items at Scrapbookers-Anonymous before 9:00 PM EST on November 30th. As usual, check what the DT did to get you inspired. You will be eligible for the monthly prize...which is a fabulous iRock from Imaginisce and a couple bling wheels.

Hi everyone! It is a long time I do not write a post at this blog. Life has been very busy. What can I say?

Today I want to share with you several things...

First is the new challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous. The challenge consists to use at least seven different pieces of ribbon on a layout. The purpose is to dig in your ribbon stash. The girls did a fabulous job as always. This time I was not able to turn my project on time, just pure procrastination of myself. I am grateful to know that Lea and Theresa are so sweet letting us know that if we cannot turn in a project on time it is OK. I just do not feel OK with myself. Anyway, even I do not have a sample to share with you here, just visit us. Lots of gorgeous inspiration and a great prize too!

Second is the announcement that my DT term at TrailMakers challenge blog is over. Karen decided to close the challenge blog as she will concentrate all her time and energy in her new brick and mortar store. I had a great time and I really hope that if you live near Fayetteville, North Carolina you can visit her.

Next are the November kits from 3 Scrappy Boys. The Main and the Add-On are just full of Jillibean Soup goodness. The Trio kit has Crate paper Random, Fancy Pants and Basic Grey. Please, click the link to see them. They are gorgeous! I do not have layouts to share with you since this is my off kit month but just visit the gallery for the fabulous inspiration.

Next is that Heather from 3 Scrappy Boys prepared a December Daily kit using several manufacturers and Elle' Studio items. All the information can be found at this thread.

Finally, I am sharing a layout I had sitting on my desk, just waiting for the finishing touches. And, I just finished today. It was for a PageMaps sketch challenge last month.

From our visit to Madrid zoo. The papers are from Lily bee designs and the embellishments are from Purple Pumpkin. The panda button was just perfect for the theme!

So now, I have to go!

Halloween Scrapbook Layouts

The second layout show my kids during a Halloween event at Punto Verde park. I used a Page Maps sketch and supplies from Fancy Pants: Oct 31 collection.

Recycle your Cardboard

This past summer I went to Spain with my family. We had a great time together and the kids showed interest for everything related to castles, small streets, etc.

I made this layout with Imaginisce Bon Voyage collection which is available at The Paper Trail store. The navy and burgundy colors were the perfect fit for the cardboard challenge taking place at Trail Makers challenge blog.

The cardboard was inked with gold ink. It adds a touch of dimension and rustic feel to my page. I love the die cuts from this collection, the stamps with the travel images, and the sentiments. There was no need to use alphabet stickers for my title.

I was inspired in the sketch from the monthly challenge at Imaginisce's blog. It is due on October 25.

If you notice, I combined the Bon Voyage goodies with several vintage items from Purple Pumpkin (felt flower, brown vinyl cogs, white/brown twine, vinyl heart, spotted brown button). As you see, they blend very well together.

Studio Calico Memoir * 3 Scrappy Boys Add-On

First of all, I am super excited to share that I am back on the 3 Scrappy Boys DT for another term!!! I love the kits and I loved being part of the community this year. Congrats and welcome to the new designers. Checkout the announcement, here.

Second, today I created two additional pages with the fabulous Add-On kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. This kit features the Memoir collection from Studio Calico.

For my first layout, I used some old photos from our family trip to San Francisco, California. Specifically, the photos show our stop previous crossing the Golden Gate. I still remember, that kids were super active that day. Well the evidence can be shown here!!! LOL!

Reflecting right now, they were so little! Right now, they do not remember.

Just everything you see is from the Add-On kit except for the kraft cardstock and the mist used (Studio Calico - Custard (sun, flowers) and Studio Calico - white(clouds)). The camera is one of the images included in the Maya Road clear stamp set.

For the second layout, I wanted to showcase the ribbon included in the kit. I attached it with liquid glue to a circle shaped chipboard frame from my stash. This photo is more recent. It is from this last summer.

We were at Avila, which is a very antique city, which I feel it justifies the use of the vintage ribbon over the photo. Moreover, love the contrast provided of the white chipboard letters against the kraft cardstock. Love the color combination of wine / blue / turquoise, too.

This layout is pretty simple, but I preferred that way. BTW this was my 5th layout from the kit. The brown/white twine is from WRMK that can be found in the store. The scripted patterned paper belongs to Studio Calico Memoir 6"X6" pad.

October kits are now for sale! Heather decided to donate 10% of all sales in October to either the Susan G. Komen Foundation or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. These donations will be made in honor of breast cancer awareness month and Heather's father, who passed away from multiple myeloma.

C is for....

This month at Scrapbookers-Anonymous is the letter C...
where C stands for Crate, Cosmo Cricket, Coredinations, Copics, Cards, Cardboard...

I used some patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket Odds and Ends collection and Coredinations cardstock from the Basic grey collection. I was inspired in a sketch from this month at Purple Pumpkin, ie the embellishments (the red flower, the red doily, the black buttons are from Purple Pumpkin).

I Iove this photo from my beautiful sister with my son. They were posing at church after Diego's baptism ceremony. I really have sweet memories of that date.

Two More Layouts with Studio Calico Memoir

Today, I am sharing two more scrapbook layouts with the kit I got to play from 3 Scrappy Boys. This is the Add-On kit which is filled with beautiful supplies from Studio Calico Memoir.

First Horse Ride - Diego is having a horse ride at Villa Campestre. However he did not enjoy the experience. Loved how turned out the Maya Road chipboard. I applied white acrylic paint and while wet, I misted with Studio Calico "Estate Green".

en Plaza de Colon - This is the first square when you get to enter "Old San Juan". Actually, this was a family day trip for the first week of October last year. As you can see by my son expression and my glasses, we were not comfortable with the sun's exposure. Love, love the Studio Calico chipboard buttons. Must of the patterned paper grid was created with the 6" X 6" papers included in the kit.
I was inspired in a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. Tip: Do not throw away cardboard packaging. The cream mat belongs to the cardboard from Prima alphabet stickers. Love the blue / cream combination.

Let's Fly Away

This was my first time scrapping with Imaginisce supplies, and it will not be my last. Loved to scrap with this company's papers and die cuts.

Everything you see in this layout is from The Paper Trail store. There, you can find this fabulous travel collection from Imaginisce "Bon Voyage". By the way, I feel so happy for Karen that last month opened her brick and mortar store located at Fayetteville, North Carolina. I wish great success!

For this layout, I was inspired in sketch #174 from Creative Scrappers.

We are in front of "Avila" cathedral at Spain. One of my goals for my kids is to show them the world. We want them to have a global mindset.

Scrapbooker's Anonymous October Challenge - Die Cuts

On to this month's challenge at Scrapbooker's Anonymous... it's all about the DIE CUTS. This time you need to dig that die cutter now like you Big Shot, Cricut, Cuttle Bug or Silhouette.

If you do not have a machine, you can use pre-made die cuts. Surely, you have several of them piling up in your stash.

Here is my sample layout...

I used both type of die cuts at my layout. One of my best dies investments is the Stampin' Up! Top Note Bigz Die. I think I use it on a monthly basis.

I used pre-made die cuts too, like the scalloped Jillibean Soup journaling die cuts. They were covered with patterned paper circles cut with the Bigz Die Circle #2.

Love the colors of this collection from Jillibean Soup Apple Cheddar. I combined this collection with a sketch from Julie Bonner.

Here is my little boy posing for me at the living room before going to a birthday party. I love when he dresses with button shirts. It was a summer day, but who matters?

October kits are now available!!!

Hi, there! Guess was happened this morning? Three fabulous kits from 3 Scrappy Boys were revealed today. Really, really this time is very hard to me to choose which one is my favorite. Let's start with the Trio kit.

The October Trio kit features Studio Calico Classic, Pink Paislee Nantucket and Glitz Designs Vintage Blue...

and the Main kit and Add-On featuring Studio Calico Memoir...one of my favorite scrapbook collection from CHA 2011 Summer.

I had the great pleasure to create with the Main Kit Add-On and this is one of the layouts I created with it...

What do you think? Everything you see in this layout is from the October 2011 Add-On kit. The "Smile" sentiment was stamped with brown ink from a Maya Road clear stamp which is also included in the kit. The paint splattering is from Studio Calico "Custard" and "Estate Green" which can be also obtained at the store.

Love the Studio Calico "Memoir" chipboard buttons. I am very happy that I have still several of these buttons left from the kit. Love that this kit includes 6" X 6" patterned paper, which is perfect for creating embellishments. The bracket frame was created with one of those 6" X 6" papers, which is very nice since I can create more with the kit and you do not have to fear to us another 12" X 12" paper.

This layout follows sketch 252 from Pencil Lines. And, the photo shows my little boy playing at the playground in the evening of a Memorial Day weekend.

More Purple Pumpkin Layouts

This layout shows a photo from our visit to the Kennedy Space Center. I used Bella BLVD Mr. Boy collection. The stars and the yellow tag are from Purple Pumpkin.

This layout shows a professional photo from our visit to "el real Madrid" soccer stadium. The patterned papers and chipboard border and stars are from Bella BLVD.

Photo Inspiration Challenge at Trail makers

I created this 12X12 layout based on the photo inspirational challenge at Trail Makers Challenge Blog. This challenge is named as "What is your inspiration?"

I was inspired in the range of brown colors from both photos at Trail Makers challenge blog. Somehow these photos inspired me to dig in my stash of vintage photos.

I chose several patterned papers and supplies from different manufacturers: Crate Paper - Neighborhood; Fancy Pants - It's the Little Things; Bo Bunny - Time Piece; Pink Paislee - Sweetness - Canvas Borders; Parisian Anthology - Corrugated Elements; Jenni Bowlin - Pearl buttons; Alphabet Stickers: Fancy Pants; ribbon: from a past The Paper Trail kit; journaling die cut: from a past The Paper Trail kit.

I love the vintage feel with the chic style from all these collections, therefore I was inspired to scrap a photo of myself dressed in my baptism dress. I used sketch #173 from Creative Scrappers.

To create my 12X12 layout first, I cut a non symmetrical square frame approximately 9" X 9" from the Crate Paper patterned paper. Then, I distressed all the paper borders with my MM distresser. Then I attached the grid patterned paper from Crate Paper with pop dots to the Fancy Pants patterned paper. Next I distressed and attached three paper strips at the left side. I placed two photos, chipboard elements, flowers and the rest of the embellishments.

Guest Designer for Purple Pumpkin

Hi, everyone! I am very excited to share that for September, I am guest designer for Purple Pumpkin. I just love Purple Pumpkin embellishments. Love the bright colors, their cuteness, the great variety of buttons.

They add that little something every time to my layouts! I just love my Purple Pumpkin container where I store all the mix of embellies.

We are on month two of our ABC challenge at Scrapbookers-Anonymous. I love letter B! So many options. I found many items that starts with letter "B".

Here is my example:

My layout includes "Bella BLVD" Sophisticates patterned paper and chipboard letters, bulls, black color, brown color, blue color, and the banner. Easy isn't it?

School Portraits

Every year my school invites a photography studio to take similar photos to each student. Every year, I finish getting their complete package since I know these photos are a memory I will treasure.

Most of these pictures are usually reserved to give away to my extended family but sometimes I end up with so many pictures, that I do not know what to do with them except than scrapbooking them. But I have so many pictures... Well you know the story.

Here is one layout i just completed from my son using an 5 X 7 picture of him.

This layout took me only 30 minutes to complete because of the fabulous supplies from Fancy Pants"Off to School" collection, which is selling out like "hot bread". Love the red heart and the title from their element stickers. Easy peasy! Sketch is from Sketchy Thursdays.

Summer Vacations: Day 4

Hi! Happy Labor day!
Here is day 4 from our summer vacations.
We went to Museo del Prado in the morning and El Palacio Real in the evening.
This time it was prohibited to take photos inside of both places. :(
This was a hard day for the kids, I could not immerse myself at both places as I would have like it.
However, they enjoyed running freely at the Palacio Real entrance. The iphone games and Nintendo DS came very handy...many times.

Chipboard Challenge at Scrapbookers-Anonymous

Hi! Yesterday was the reveal for Scrapbookers-Anonymous challenge blog. This month it's to use Chipboard! Any kind raw, chipboard alphabet letters, shape or size etc.

Here is my take in the challenge...

The photo show my Diego, I miss those days, sometimes... He was such a good baby! I miss holding up him, even though I enjoy my free hands more! :)

I used some papers from Basic Grey Luscious and combined with some of the following Basic Grey Curio Adhesive Shapes.

I combined these chipboard shapes with this beautiful orange satin flower from Precocious Paper and one sweet spot for the fall in orange. The journaling was written in one of the BG chipboard journaling die cuts.
I used a previous sketch from Inspired Blueprints.

This is a close-up from shape chipboard along with one Precocious Paper sweet spot.

Close-up from the title. I painted the Dusty Attic banner with Jenni Bowlin paint dabber- brown sugar and applied the BG chipboard flowers on the top of each triangle. The title letters are from Basic Grey chipboard alphabet stickers in white. They were painted with the JB brown dabber, then misted sparingly with Studio Calico mist.

This is one of the photo, I took to Diego when he started Pre-Kinder.

"Old Atocha" Scrapbook Layout

Today, I am sharing this layout created with August 2011 Main Kit from 3 Scrappy Boys.

The floral patterned papers from this collection are very versatile and they can be used for boy, girl and travel layouts. I loved all the different colors in this kit, however my fave color combo is this timeless color combination of red with turquoise from Lily bee Designs, "This and That collection. Love how it looks against the kraft cardstock included in the kit.

I created this layout based on a PageMaps sketch. I cut strips of "Post Card" patterned paper and placed them at the top and bottom from the layout.

Some close-up for details:

The circles from "Pretty Fabric" patterned paper were cut with my Big Shot "Circle #2" die.

The negative heart is a leftover from a previous layout made with this kit. The circle used for the title was mat with the Maya Road doily kraft. The photo was mat with the Maya Road clear stickers!

This is another view from the title - the alphabet stickers are the red set from Lily bee "This and That". Those alphas are one of my favorite supplies...right now!

This is one of the places we visited this summer during our visit to Madrid. Actually, the first time I came to Madrid I used the "Old Atocha" train station to go to Toledo. Right now, "Old Atocha" is a tropical museum. It is a little nook from the Caribbean in the middle of Madrid.

Birthday Layout with a Twist * Sketch Inspiration

As August is winding down the BIRTHDAY challenges are still going strong at Trail Makers challenge blog!!!

To continue celebrating TrailMakers' 1 year birthday this month, we are creating Birthday Layouts with a small twist!

Just like with our card challenge, your layout will be all about birthdays, but you cannot use any birthday papers!!!!!

This is my take in the Birthday Layout challenge with a Twist!

It was so easy to create this birthday layout with these so cute boy themed papers from Crate Paper which are available at The Paper Trail Store.

The photo shows the celebration of Diego's 4th birthday at school. We brought cup cakes for everyone in the class.

I used the B sides from Crate Paper - Orbit collection patterned papers since the colors combine perfectly with my birthday photos.

I painted the so fun TADA chipboard frame with yellow acrylic paint.

Furthermore, I used glossy accents to attach the so cool acrylic photos. Can you tell which part of my layout is similar to a birthday cake? :))))

I used sketch #234 from Sketch Inspiration.

Dream to See a Medalist * MME Lime Twist

Hi, there! Here we are waiting for Irene's storm. She should be around late afternoon. It should not be strong, except for the abundance of rain, we should be fine.

Yesterday, I created this layout for My Mind's Eye: Layout Challenge #26. The sketch is designed by Anam Stubbington. The theme is "Anything Goes".

I admit it. I am a dreamer. Sometimes too much. I stay at my son swimming practices must of the time. Actually, I enjoy seeing him practicing, and seeing his improvements in techniques. I cannot avoid to day dream, even though I will be happy and support him whatever he choose to do in the future. But tell me a parent who does not?!! :)

Dream is one of the words at Bird is the Word Challenge blog. This layout is my challenge entry. There are still a few days to participate!

I used My Mind's Eye "Lime Twist" collection. The journaling die cut with the arrow and the scallop border are from My Mind's Eye "Good Day Sunshine". The red alphabet sticker is from My Mind's Eye "So Sophie". The white alphabet chipboard from American Crafts.

Summer Vacations: Day 3

During day 3, the students went to the conferences while a great part of the group and/ or families went to the adjacent city of Avila.

Ávila is a medieval city in the province of Castile-Léon in western Spain, about 70 miles northwest of Madrid. Founded in the 11th century to protect the Spanish territories from the Moors, Ávila has a magnificently well-preserved city wall, a historic cathedral, a number of Romanesque churches, and an authentic medieval atmosphere.

At our arrival, we stopped at Cathedral of Avila. The Cathedral of Ávila is a Gothic church in Ávila in the south of Old Castile, Spain.

The Cathedral of Ávila is considered to be the first Gothic cathedral of Spain.

We stumbled with a cadets graduation ceremony.

There was lot of security, police men, and the people from this small town were looking for...

Felipe, Prince of Asturias.

What???????!!!!!!!!

We moved fast, with guide on hand, and asking everyone for where he was.

But, sadly, when we found the place, where the prince was giving the speech for the graduation ceremony.

Everyone was gone.

So, we were not able to see the prince. :(

Then, we were able to enjoy the day and the enchantment from Avila city. We proceed to have lunch at this square at a local restaurant.

Then, we went to Convento de Santa Teresa.

I had a beautiful time here, since Santa Teresa is one of my favorite historical people. I had read her biography and books several times. I felt peace. Truly, peace at this place!

For all these reasons, the entire Old Town of Ávila has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

For pilgrims, the city of Ávila is important because of its association with the great mystic and reformer St. Teresa de Jesus, better known as St. Teresa of Ávila.

Teresa was a 16th-century Carmelite nun who reformed her order, had many ecstatic visions, and wrote several books. She is the female patron saint of Spain and was the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church.

Ávila contains two main shrines honoring St. Teresa, along with a few more sites associated with the saint. The primary shrine is the Convento de Santa Teresa (Convent of St. Teresa), a convent contains her relics, and the second is the Monasterio de la Encarnacion, where St. Teresa lived and where her cell can be visited.

My kids were very happy playing with their swords at the top of the wall. How exciting!!!

Its main monument is the imposing Walls of Ávila (11th-14th centuries), the medieval work was started in 1090. The fenced area is of 31 hectares with a perimeter of approximately 2,516 meters, 88 blocks or semicircular towers, 2,500 merlons, paintings by 3 m. thick, an average height of 12 m. and 9 gates. It is the largest fully illuminated monument in the world.

Hi!, Today I am sharing this layout, created for the September GDT Challenge at Sketchy Thursdays.

I used some items from July Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys but also dug in my Sass stash for yellow flowers and alphabet stickers in a variety of colors.

The challenge was to include something about reading, so the photo shows myself reading a city guide. Here is the journaling:

I used several alphabet colors, therefore I am submitting this layout to the monthly Sassafras challenge (August Challenge from Emily).

Love, love is part of my title! Therefore, it qualifies for the new word challenge at Bird is the Word Challenge blog *August 14th). The challenge is to create a project using the word Love in the title or journaling.

I am submitting this one for The Paper Variety challenge (week 47) Threads!!! since I used the orange thread for the Maya Road canvas banner. I am not even counting the twine at the Sass flowers!

Summer Vacations: Day 2

Hi! Here is day 2. It was monday, therefore the students went to their conference during the day, while we went to the Madrid Zoo.

The first thing we did was to see the Dolphins show.

The Hamsters Balls! Can you guess in which one my son is having a blast!

It was my first time seeing Panda Bears!

They had not seen Madagascar movie, therefore they were very difficult to photograph! They were playing all the time!

After the seeing the Panda's my kids went for a pony ride.

Can you guess how Diego is on the top? I am lucky that he weighs less than 40 pounds! LOL!

Eagles!!

We saw gorillas, lions, giraffes, etc!

I loved this zoo, since it was practically empty, no lines, lots of water and food points and great scenery. It was a very peaceful, relaxing day.

When we returned to the hotel around 6pm, we bought something to dine for the kids. My kids stayed with my mom at the hotel.

Then, my DH came from the conferences and we went to "Jardines del Retiro".

This is such a gorgeous place, it is a park of 118 acres located in the middle of Madrid. The gardens originated around 1630 and they were property from the royalty. Beautiful place!

Finally, we stopped at Plaza Mayor, for dinner with the group. It was more than 9pm. Everyone was tired! I think you can see from the faces! It was a long day and everyone still had the jet lag!

Tomorrow is another day!

August A to Z Challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous

Hi, there! Finally...I can share my layout for Scrapbookers Anonymous!!!!

There is a mid month prompt at Scrapbookers Anonymous. Since this is our first month, the letter for August is letter "A". What does this means for you?

CHALLENGE
We want you to dig into your stash and find an item that starts with the letter "A". It can be a manufacturer, or any item in your stash that starts with an "A" like an apple, or alphabet, or acrylic embellishment. You name it!! Do you get the idea??

For my example, I used American Crafts! Everything is from them, except the twine and the white cardstock used to mat my photos.

There is a mix of collections: Dear Lizzy, Blue Skies and Heat Wave from my stash. Love how everything blends together. Actually I do not have any of the Campy Trails or Margarita patterned papers or embellishments, which I would love to have. Let's no talk about the new Amy Tan collection, which I am desperate to have in my hands.

These two photos are from Day 2 of our summer vacations this year. Luis had a blast at these Hamster Balls found in Madrid Zoo. The cost was 5 euros for 5 minutes. He was so happy! Diego was not so interested. The weather was very hot, but Luis told me that pool's water was cold.

Summer Vacations: Day 1

Hi, there! I know I have not blogged so frequently this month.
Here is what is happening in my neck of the woods.

On August:

Luis started Second Grade last week.
Diego started Kindergarten last week.
My DH graduated with an MBA degree. Last sunday was the graduation ceremony. Yey!!!
I started working outside home after three years of being a full time SAHM. I am working for a consultant company doing projects for several pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. This means looking for after school programs and so. So you can imagine, I had been busy. This is a significant change in the family and life routines. But, life is good! I feel blessed and grateful for the opportunities presented!
Last but not least, my grandfather passed away. It was kind of expected, but it is still difficult to accept.

So now that you know what I had been doing, so sorry for the delay in sharing my photos from our family vacation. Looking forward to share at least 10 photos from each day, daily.

During summer, we went to Madrid, Spain as part of the "International Business" class at UNO university.

Here is day 1:

We arrived to Madrid at 6 am in the morning. ,We rested at the arrival to the hotel, we did a bus tour, then we had a sponsored university dinner at restaurant "Los Galayos" located at Plaza Mayor.

The delicious paella we ate a "Los Galayos" that evening.

Life is beautiful because of you

Hi! Here is another layout from August 2011 Main kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. Everything is from the kit except the SU! chipboard frame (actually this chipboard section is not part of the product itself), white acrylic frame and the Pink Paislee yellow alphabet stickers (from my stash).

Love this line from Lily bee, "This & That", it can be chic and elegant, but also works very well for spring layouts. This is Luis in April, 2006 sitting at our front garden.

I used my circle punch and scallop punch to create my red/yellow flowers. The canvas flower was created with a Maya Road canvas banner and a rolled flower with the beautiful fabric piece included in the kit.

Since this layout includes more than 4 circles (the yellow patterned paper circles used as center for the red scallop circles), I am submitting it to challenge #45 from The Paper Variety.

So what do you think? This layout resembles me like Tic, Tac, Toe. When was the last time you used circles on your layout? or a grid?

Sisters together on a special date

It was my turn to work with the Main kit and I fell truly in love with the August 2011 Main Kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. What more can I ask, since it provides a mix of two of my favorite manufacturers: Lily bee Designs with Sassafras. I will share several pages using this kit with you over the course of this month.

For this page, I was inspired in a July's sketch from Creative Scrappers. My embellishments were created by using paper punches and my Big Shot die cut machine. The flower in the bottom right was cut with the Tim Holtz "Tattered Florals" die and I used one of the two turquoise Maya Road flowers included in the kit for the middle.

Love the alphabet stickers sheet from Lily bee, great font and so many colors to choose from. It is perfect to create long titles.

Here is a close-up of the strips layering below the photo. Once again, I used a border punch.

Here is a close-up from the journaling. It was handwritten in the tag. I used my heart shaped punch with one of the Lily bee papers. The mist used is from Studio Calico "Bonny Blue", which is available in the 3 Scrappy Boys store. The mini tickets transparencies are from Maya Road.

I am glad to document this photo of my beloved sisters and me together. This photo was taken before my youngest sister wedding ceremony. Time flies! It seems like yesterday!

Scrapbookers-Anonymous August Challenge- Journaling Blocks

Hi! Me again! This month at Scrapbookers Anonymous, we want you to use your journaling blocks, tags, stickers, etc. on your layout. There is no certain number, however the more the merrier. The purpose is to use your stash!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I used the collection from My Little Shoebox "City by the bay". Love the journaling diecuts included in this collection. I used several here for different purposes as journaling, for the title and for embellishments (flowers).

The photo is from my DH and son the first and last time we visited San Francisco on 2007. Hope to return again to Pier 39. It is a beautiful place!

This card was created with a collection from My Little Shoebox "Oasis". Hello sentiment was stamped with "Home Sweet Home" clear stamp.

Together * Scrapbook Layout for The Paper Trail store

Hi everyone! Today is the first day of August! I do not know about you, but summer for me is over. My kids will start school next week! Yes, I am ready for it, too!

As is my habitual action except for July, the beginning of the month usually brings one DT project using The Paper Trail kit of the month. However, since Karen decided to just go back and open stock purchases instead of the kits, each DT member will be showcasing a few different products from the store on the first of each month.

I want you to visit Trail Makers challenge blog. This is the beginning of a new term for returning member (including me), and there are some new talented members with new styles too!

For August, Karen sent me a sample of the beautiful Basic Grey, "Out of Print" collection and here is what I did with it:

Love the feel of this line - the newspaper prints mixed with the sherbet pink, yellow and green colors. The photos shows my mom, my two sisters and me at my parents back yard. We were together celebrating mother's day.

The clear buttons were attached to the paper with black /white twine.

Love the beautiful layered butterflies and flowers stickers.

The alphabet letter stickers are the perfect size. Not too big or too small.

The gorgeous butterfly with its pre-made layers. I added some clear rhinestones to add more interest.

I am very happy to participate at The Paper Variety as a follower. So cool!

Cathedral of Reims - 3 Scrappy Boys Main Kit

Hi, again!!!! I am back to share a double page layout created using the August Main Kit from 3 Scrappy Boys kit club which features Lily bee designs This & That.

This layout is based on sketch #17 from Sketch Support. It was a long time I did not create a two page layout, so this was my self induced challenge. This goal was easily met with the main kit, since it includes two black cardstocks and two kraft cardstocks. Love those colors that are a staple in everyone stash.

My favorite item from the kit is the Maya Road - Trinket Blossoms . The kit includes four of these beautiful flowers. I used the golden yellow ones for my page. Here is a close-up! They are approximately 1".

The pinking circle was created with a PTI die. The flowers's banner was created with a SU! punch. It was attached against a WRMK black/white twine and liquid glue.

The photos are from our trip to Reims in June, 2009 at the Cathedral of Reims.Even with the so many pictures I had scrapped from this trip, I still have more photos scrap worthy. But who is counting??

And in some other news, 3 Scrappy Boys Facebook page reached the milestone of 100 Likes. Now, let's get to 150 Likes for a gift pack from the store. Nice!!

On the personal, classes will start in less than three weeks, so we are in the back to school mode. So ready for it!

Next post, I will be sharing some photos from this summer vacations. Really hope you like them, since they will keep me busy for the rest of the year and the next!! LOL!

Boys and their toys - Purple Pumpkin July Sketch and Best Creations Inc.

Hi, there! First of all, I want to give thanks to all the people that voted for me at the August GDT for Sketchy Thursdays. I did not win but just getting in the top 5 is an achievement by itself. They receive lots of beautiful submissions every month. There will be always a next time, and I will go for it!!! Thanks again!

Today I am sharing my take in the July Sketch challenge from Purple Pumpkin. Not only I love Purple Pumpkin buttons and embellishments but love their sketches too. I was lucky enough to get hold of some new buttons and flowers at their last sale. Definitely, I put the GC to good use!

This was the first time I used Best Creations Inc supplies and I need to tell you that I loved working with them. I like very much playing with bright colors and bold designs and their papers are right to my alley.

The Robot collection was perfect to document the day when we visited this popular toys store which build custom made stuffed toys. It was the 4th birthday for Diego and he got a black dotted dog with retro skates. So cool! and he was so happy!

For this layout, I attached the 12 X 12 Die Cut Glitter Paper - Gearing Up to a navy cardstock. I attached two pieces from both sides of Double Sided Glitter Paper - Space Stripes. Then I applied Glittered Cardstock Stickers Combo and Elements according to the sketch.

The polka dot yellow and orange buttons, monkey button, yellow doilies and felt circles are from Purple Pumpkin. The yellow doily and felt layered circles were disassembled to get more embellishments.

This is the last layout I will share today. This is just one of the layouts created for CHA Summer Crop at 3 Scrappy Boys. The crop is in full swing right now at the message boards.

This layout was created for the "Summer Movies" challenge. It consists to create a layout with a title based on a "Movie". Easy isn't it?

I was itching to scrap these photos from my DS. Actually the photos are from Christmas's day. He is just playing in the back yard with one of the toys that brought "Santa". No sketch this time.

The papers are from Crate Paper "Toy Box"; the embellishments are from Crate Paper (stickers, die cuts), chipboard: Maya Road, cardstock: bazzill; Filter: Fancy Pants.

Summer Heat

Here is my page for Sketchy Thursdays: August GDT Challenge. I think I went very literal with the challenge with respect to the colors. But it is OK! Using the red and yellow colors, I wanted to document the suffocating heat we were experimenting that day.

My kids do not like to use sunglasses or cap! But this day, they used all of the time!

The photos are NOT so dark in real life. I almost sure, that if I use other background colors, they would be more clear, when photographed. I will consider this, a lesson learn.

I used my leftovers from the June Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys. The collection is Cosmo Cricket: Salt Air. I added the twine (used in the buttons), the October Afternoon mist, the fabric chipboard letters. The Maya Road chipboard was treated with Pumpkin Pie die ink and Shimmerz.

Celebrate Thanksgiving the Summer Way

Hi, everyone!! Wishing everyone a great week! Mine had been busy by doing house "spring cleaning", errands back to school activities, etc. , however I still managed to scrap some layouts during the weekend and I will be sharing today thru several posts. Sorry that, I had not shared any photos yet from this month. I am still in the process of backing them up, before editing and playing with them. But, I will share, I promise!

This one is about our celebration of Thanksgiving week at Culebra! I blogged about our vacations at this post. Do you remember?

The new design team at The Trail Makers

Hi! It is a long time, I do not write a blog post. We just came last Tuesday evening from vacations. Now doing and sorting the laundry, etc. and getting used to the routine. And I took more than 1000 photos with my camera and the phone. So you can imagine I have lots to do, and will not be possible to do this on just one sitting!

After six months of completing my duties for five design teams simultaneously, I need to admit that July has been a month of vacation and recovery from the house and scrapbooking. However, I am unpacking diligently, since I have the urge to scrap, even more when seeing all the new releases from Summer CHA.

Currently, I am doing a highly needed reorganization from my scrap-room. And I am looking forward for my DT boxes from The Paper Trail and 3 Scrappy Boys that should arrive before the weekend. I cannot wait to scrap again!

Dreams do come true!

Hi! This month, Lea and Theresa from Scrapbookers Anonymous challenged us to create a layout with our most difficult color. For me is purple! To identify my most difficult project, I checked my Two Peas and Scrapbook.com galleries, and I have more than a dozen of projects checked with reds, blues, greens, yellow but none with purple.

Even more, I received a scrapbook kit earlier in the year with the beautiful collection from Webster's Pages, and I had it almost untouched. Not for Websters Pages, but just for the abundance of purple color. So I challenged myself to create with purple, and I was surprised with my results.

I admit, I had a lot of fun digging out for purple items in my stash!

This was me on January 2000. I joined my father in his traditional business trip to Las Vegas, for the International Electronic Show. At this time, I was working full-time and without boy friend. I still remember my cumbersome curiosity for what the new decade would bring.

At this time, I knew my dear husband, but I did not have any idea that future will join us together later that year. Reflecting right now, we married a year later, relocated for almost two fabulous years on Italy for work, we returned to Puerto Rico and bought our house, we had two kids later on.

I found this fabulous hobby of scrapbooking, and had the chance to be a Stay at Home Mom, while my kids were little, and with a happy and healthy marriage. I am really grateful for all these blessings! Yes, this is my life at a snapshot.

Well, now it is your time to create with your most difficult color!

Summertime Means Sports

Hi, there! Today, I am sharing a simple page that I did recently. One for me, just to document what means summer in our family.

Here, I documented what means "Summertime".

For our family, "Summertime" means Sports. Why? Since my kid was little, I look for some part-time summer camp where he can learn a new sport. This layout shows my kid at his summer camp during 2008 learning soccer. Wow, time really goes so fast!

I used the Echo Park collection "Summer Days", alphabet thickers from American Crafts and cardstock stickers from Echo Park "Sweet Summertime" collection. I did not have an orange alphabet to complete my title, which really surprised me.

Therefore, I looked thru my alphabet stickers from my Echo Park's old stash and found the sticker letters to spell the words "Sports &". Love when manufacturers release products with similar colors and styles every year, like in this case with "Summer Days" and "Summertime" collections. This is my tip for today: Always check your stash!

On another note, last week I received an email from Jen Gallagher with a permission request to upload one of my pages in the new Echo Park Flickr gallery.

I was very excited, since I am fan of Jen's work and I love Echo Park products. Dancing in the Sand with Cosmo Cricket Salt Air

Hi, there! and Wow! I cannot believe that this is my last post as a designer for The Paper Variety challenge blog. This was my first opportunity on a designing group and I am always thankful to Abby and Suzy to believe in me, when I had zero experience in design teams. I hope you have applied or will apply pretty soon (DT call is due this friday). Abby and Suzy are very professional, responsible and great persons to work with.

The challenge for this week is seasonal, it is all about summer! Honestly, it was a little difficult to me, since many of my summer pictures are travel or sports related, or I had them scrapped already. I cheated a little bit at this challenge since these photos were taken on the thanksgiving weekend, but hey!!! where I live is summer everyday! And to my side, I used this fabulous summer collection from Cosmo Cricket, Salt Air.

It could not be more perfect, summer theme with vintage fall colors!!

More than a collection of photos ranging from June to August, the challenge is to scrap some photos of what summer represents like fun activities like travel, vacations, pool and the beach.

I used the fabulous June 2011 Trio kit from 3 Scrappy Boys and a Pencil Lines sketch.

Love the Maya Road chipboard and Cosmo Cricket buttons.

The alphabet is from Sassafras Lass and Jillibean Soup.

The wood veneer butterfly is from Studio Calico and the star is from Bella BLVD Family Dynamix.

The bracket shaped chipboard is from GCD Studios and was misted with Studio Calico mist in blue grass. The label is a fussy cut from one the Cosmo Cricket patterned papers.

The cloud has white glitter over glossy accents. The rainbow was created with Stickles. The mint cloud was misted with Tattered Angels glimmer mist. I misted yellow mist to the sun border, then applied golden stickles. The sun middle chipboard was covered with patterned paper. I applied white craft ink to the white cloud, then Zing clear embossing powder.
